In The Editors’ Closets

With colder temps on the horizon, it’s time to transition our wardrobes for winter. Since we just can’t pull on a pair of sweats and hibernate all season (aka what we wish we could do), we’re turning to classic pieces like shearling jackets and waterproof-yet-chic boots to strike the perfect balance of styled and cozy. Think Ali MacGraw in Love Story or Gwyneth Paltrow in The Royal Tenenbaums. We know we’re not the only ones out there with the need to do some shopping, which is why we’re launching our newest series: In The Editors’ Closets. Just like our weekly #NoScrolling picks or the restaurants we’re regulars at, these are pieces we’ll be buying this week and know we’ll want to revisit again and again. Drumroll please, here’s our first edition…

A puffer jacket may have embarrassed you in middle school – raise your hand if you’re guilty of fighting with your mom about going out without a coat – but it is undoubtedly a staple in our wardrobes. We’re fans of this cherry red edition from Ganni; it’s a must buy for city dwellers.

We want to live in this sweater all season long – winter white, cozy sleeves, pairs equally well with jeans as it does trousers and a blazer – enough said, right?

These Frye boots remind us of Stranger Things’ Eleven. We know she’d love the sherpa lining, and they’d be perfect for running around in Hawkins with the boys. They are, in a word borrowed from Eleven herself, bitchin’.

Khaite makes the best jeans, hands down. They are both Laura and Danielle’s favorite, a tried-and-true staple in their closets.

We’re working on brightening up our closets, especially with the holiday season rapidly approaching. This red silk dress from Sézane fits the bill and works for day or night; you’ll likely see us rocking it at every holiday party and gift exchange through 2018.

Silk not your style? Check out this cozy sweater dress from Mes Demoiselles. It’s the perfect fit for Thanksgiving Dinner, meaning you can eat as much as you want without having to worry about bloat or red wine spills.

On the topic of holiday parties, we’re always on the hunt for the perfect party shoe. This chic pair from Roger Vivier marries Carrie Bradshaw and timeless French elegance. They’re worth the splurge.

Slides are still some of our favorite shoes, even though they may not be the most practical for winter. Catherine will be wearing these with a sparkly pair of socks. Hey, if you have to layer, you may as well make it fun…

Speaking of layering, this Topshop tee is our winter hero. Throw under a thick knit for extra warmth or tuck into a high-waisted pair of light wash jeans for a laid-back weekend look.

This sherpa coat reminds us of days spent at the lodge in the best possible way. It is the ultimate in après-ski attire, whether you’re hitting the slopes this winter or not. Truth be told, it’s a little (okay, wildly) out of our budgets. So, we’ll be compromising with this affordable option from Madewell.

Last but not least: The perfect beanie. Don’t kid yourself, we all need one, and trust us – it’s worth the hat head.
