Today on TNP is our ultimate #MCM: the utterly adorable Cheyenne Jackson, an actor we’ve loved since his time on 30 Rock. Since then, he’s been lighting up the very freaky set of AHS for the last three seasons, playing everything from a dubiously helpful psychiatrist to a scheming show runner. With the show airing tonight, we could think of no better time than to plug Jackson for cast member tidbits, personal grooming and perfect first dates…
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
Steel-cut oatmeal with lots of berries or super thin homemade pancakes, strong coffee with almond milk, an apple (I eat way too many), a big gorgeous salad with lots of color and texture and flavor, tea, half of an avocado with a sprinkle of sea salt, some kind of salty snack (chips and guacamole maybe…my husband makes the absolute best), and a nice piece of fish grilled on the BBQ with veggies, with mashed yams or whipped cauliflower. Either is perfect.
Is the set of American Horror Story scary? Do you ever have to remind yourself it’s not real?
It’s not scary to me – although those blonde zombie kids running around were a little unnerving.
The best part of working with Lady Gaga…
Her energy and her imagination.
Is there anything that would surprise us about her?
She is one of the kindest people you could meet, though not sure that is surprising.
And what would surprise us about you?
People often seem shocked at how tall I am in person. I think because most people on TV are pocket-sized.
The best advice you got from the producers…
To just jump in and go for it.
Biggest discovery in playing Will Drake…
How many people have a fundamental problem with bisexuality.
What’s your favorite element of the show and why?
I can’t pick one – it’s impossible. It’s the sum of it’s parts that make AHS so unique.
What were you afraid of as a kid growing up?
White supremists (There was an Aryan Nation compound not too far away from where I grew up).
What are your personal grooming essentials?
Malin & Goetz lotions, SPF, and face wash.
An accessory every man should own…
A great watch.
An item of clothing every man should own…
It’s a tie between a great pair of boots and a long classic trench coat.
What are your favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to in each?
I love great food, but to be honest, I’m not much of a foodie. I’m always open to new culinary adventures and my palette is pretty eclectic, but I love basics – good sushi, good salads, and a great steak every now and then.
What would your last meal be? Who would it be with?
A great slice of New York pizza with the husband.
Your idea of the perfect first date…
Italian dinner and a Broadway show.
If you could host a dinner party with any five people living or dead, who would be there? What would you cook?
My grandparents and my father-in-law, all whom have passed. Taco party.
