Avoiding alcohol completely in the summer is unrealistic, no matter how clean we are trying to eat and drink. We’re not going to deprive ourselves a glass of rosé or stick with just water at every party. Let’s be real, though: with so many events, we could stand to drink smarter this season; no one wants to spend a summer Saturday with an exponentially crippling hangover.
That’s where these recipes come in. We’ve found some killer cocktails that actually are good (or okay, not bad) for your body. Using kombucha as a mixer will keep you hydrated longer. Bonus – the naturally occurring probiotics will help settle your stomach. Read below for our new go to drinks…
Kombucha Cocktail from Elizabeth Stein
1 part vodka, such as Tito’s Handmade Vodka (gluten-free)
2 parts cranberry kombucha
Combine vodka and kombucha. Shake mixture over ice. Pour into glass and serve.
Gin Mint Smash
1/2 tablespoon Mint Simple Syrup
2 ounces of gin
a glass 2/3 full with shaved ice
3 – 4 sprigs of mint
Lemon Peel, Garnish
In a glass muddle mint with the simple syrup. Fill with shaved ice. Pour in gin and sparkling water. Stir before serving, garnish with lemon peel.
Green Juice Margarita from BluePrint
2 parts tequila
1 part triple sec
1 part fresh lime juice
Combine in a cocktail shaker and give it a good shake. Serve in a low ball with a citrus garnish.
