Our skin is rebelling in a big way, with random acne on our cheeks and chin; we thought that ended with high school, but obviously we were wrong. We need a quick, lasting fix to get rid of those pesky breakouts. That’s where celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas comes in. She gave us this DIY skin mask to treat acne. Unlike the treatments of your youth, this one is both anti-bacterial and soothing, meaning you’ll get rid of any acne without ripping apart your skin. ¼ cup yogurt
3 tbsp aloe
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp almond meal
Directions: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Apply to the skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Remove with a warm washcloth.
Yogurt and aloe are both anti-bacterial, and have skin-soothing benefits. The yogurt has lactic acid which will help exfoliate the skin and dry the breakout. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has natural antibacterial properties. Almond meal is a gentle exfoliant which helps remove the dead skin cells. All of these ingredients together will help to combat acne, and also leave your skin super hydrated.
