Gideon Glick, star of hit play Significant Other, is our kind of man. Not only was he in the original cast of Spring Awakening (our high school obsession), he’s a foodie (just like us!), has impeccable style, and is obviously wildly talented. As a true New Yorker and Broadway vet, he’s the perfect guy to plug for intel on the city’s best bagel spots and where to take a first date. We got his guide to the city and long story short: you’ll find us at his spots this weekend. Read below for Glick’s favorites; we guarantee he’ll change your view of the theatre district…
Where do you like to go for a weekend brunch?
Fairway Café is a little gem that is literally INSIDE Fairway Market on the Upper West Side. It’s delicious.
Where do you go for a quick bite to eat in the morning?
I go to my local coffee shop – Café Amrita. Best breakfast sandwiches around. I get a bagel with sausage, egg, and avocado.
Who serves the best coffee in NYC?
Orens has wonderful coffee.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Brooklyn?
Emily is my jam. I’m a burger fanatic and their burger is…*head explodes*.
Where do you like to eat and drink near Times Square?
Where do you buy your favorite jeans?
Where do you run for a snack between shows?
Collectively, as a cast right now, we are lobbying for Westville to open up a to branch in Times Square. ARE YOU LISTENING, WESTVILLE!?!? Otherwise, Junior’s is my go-to. It’s directly across the street from the theater and they have a great Matzo Ball Soup.
What’s your favorite lunch order?
Corned beef on rye bread with coleslaw and Russian dressing.
Where do you workout?
I’ve been doing yoga at a studio near me called Unity Yoga. It’s mildly heated and the teachers are with it.
Where do you go for amazing sushi?
Amazing sushi? Sushi Seki. But it’s pricey. Kura is also amazing, but also pricey. Why is everything so expensive!? Best undercover reasonable sushi place is Yasaka on the UWS. But now that I’ve written this, it’s not really undercover, is it?
What’s your favorite place to get a sandwich?
Actually, there’s this chipotle chicken sandwich at Café Amrita that always hits the spot. If I’m downtown, Alidoro has delicious Italian sandwiches.
Where do you buy most of your clothes?
Scotch and Soda. Or Bloomingdale’s.
What’s your favorite bar?
Again, provide me with a good Manhattan, and I’m there. If you’re looking for a vintage New York feel – the bar at Sardi’s is a great option, especially for a post-show cocktail. Otherwise, I enjoy the old-timey vibe at Art Bar in the West Village.
Who serves the best NYC pizza?
For a slice, Joe’s Pizza, but you have to go to the Carmine Street location. I can’t speak for the others.
Where do you shop for a big event?
I’m pretty stylishly inept, so wherever my boyfriend takes me.
What’s your go-to “date night” restaurant?
High Street on Hudson. Tasting Menu…*head explodes again*
Where would you take someone from out of town for dinner?
Minetta Tavern. It provides a classic New York City experience.
