If you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering if it’s worth all the hype. We consulted celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas for the best ways to use activated charcoal, and she told us all we need to know about this miracle product. It’s official: activated charcoal is our hot potato. Read below for her tips and a DIY face mask that will detox and soothe your skin at the same time….
“It’s very strong, so it can be too drying for people who don’t need it. Only use if you have have very oily or very clogged skin!”
“Charcoal holds 1,000 times its weight in toxins, so it has the ability to pull impurities from the skin as well as an all over detox; try it in a pull-off mask on your nose (like this Boscia peeling mask) for maximum effectiveness.”
“I would include it in a mask with yogurt and honey. This combination will soak up excess oil and dirt to detox while providing hydration, anti-bacterial properties and soothing the skin.”
Charcoal & Clay Detox Mask:
