Have you seen Camren Bicondova on Gotham, Potatoheads? As Selina Kyle/Catwoman, she kicks ass, literally and figuratively, not to mention that she looks stunning while doing so. We love Bicondova’s honest approach to beauty, her dream dinner guests, and her strong belief in Saturday cheat days. Wondering how she stays in such super shape? Read below; consider this your mid-week pick me up….
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
My ideal food day varies based on what day of the week it is. If I’m not working (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday) I’ll have two breakfasts: a protein smoothie when I wake up, which is chocolate whey powder, almond milk, one banana and sometimes a little bit of peanut butter. Then an hour before my workout, I’ll eat more of a meal, like scrambled eggs and toast. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I normally just have my protein smoothie after my three minute cardio session. Saturday is my day off slash cheat day.
How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
By treating my body right. If I don’t workout, my mind becomes scattered. If I don’t eat clean foods, I get tired easily. I have really weird skin, so if I don’t workout and eat poorly, I break out. Beauty definitely starts from the inside, so if you feel good, you will look good.
What are your morning and nightly beauty routines?
After I work out in the morning, I wash my face with Kate Somerville’s Daily Wash then I cleanse my face with witch hazel. I put Kate Somerville’s face lotion on, and I do the same thing before I go to bed.
What snacks do you always keep on set?
I always have my water bottle, cinnamon Altoids, and my Burt’s Bees chapstick at my chair. As far as snacks go, crafty has everything, so I stay away from the chocolate covered almonds and eat a lot of cantaloupe.
We love watching you on Gotham – any fun stories from the set?
Thank you! The days where we’re all together are always fun because they’re so rare. I believe the most recent time was episode 305…TJ Scott directed it, and almost every single character was in this congratulations party for Oswald’s Mayor win in Sirens. Since there was so much to the scene, we shot over two or three days, and it was amazing.
How do you get into character?
Well, I go into hair and makeup, then I get into my costume and take a nap if time allows. I have to go into rehearsal wearing my costume because it feels really weird being Selina if I’m in Camren clothes. If the scene requires a lot of energy and fast pace, I’ll do ten burpees before each take. If the scene just requires a lot of energy and attention (which pretty much every scene of Selina’s does), then I’ll do twenty pushups before each take.
How do you wind down after a long day on set?
I sleep a lot, and I eat a lot.
Is there an issue in this day and age you’re most passionate about? What is it and why?
The main issue, which is the root of many topics that I’m passionate about, is how people put negative energy into topics that they aren’t knowledgable about. The world can only become a more kind place if we make it one, and the only way we can do that is by being positive to ourselves and others, and being aware and knowledgeable about topics we discuss as much as possible.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? The worst?
I follow Gary Vaynerchuk on social media (@garyvee) and one of the many things that he’s said is how important patience is. That’s probably the best advice that I’ve gotten that I can think of. Keep hustling. Stay patient.
What foods and drinks make your skin feels its best and worst?
I can only eat crap one day every week (Saturdays) because otherwise, my skin doesn’t cooperate with me and I feel sick. As long as I stay away from milk and spicy foods, my body loves me.
Who/What do you think you were in a past life? Why?
I love this question! I definitely feel like I’ve lived before now. I’ve always felt a connection to the twenties, jazz and women’s rights. So, I guess I could say I believe that I was once a flapper slash feminist in the 1920s. I’m also told that I’m an old soul, and I’ve always felt a connection to elephants…So, I could’ve also been an elephant in another past life!
What advice would you give women getting up, looking in the mirror and getting dressed in the morning?
You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
If you could have a dinner party with five people, living or dead, who would you invite? And what would you cook?
I would definitely cook pasta. I make a mean sauce, and I love linguini noodles. I would invite Tupac, Rachel McAdams, maybe Ryan Gosling, maybe Leonardo DiCaprio, maybe Mark Wahlberg…definitely Tupac and Rachel McAdams. For sure.
In the same vein as the new black in fashion, what is the new potato right now?
Being part of a trend, rather than starting one.
