Actress & Singer Jana Kramer

Jana Kramer has been a favorite of ours since her One Tree Hill days. Since then, this actress has conquered the country music scene, motherhood, and Dancing With The Stars – all while being true to herself and looking stunning, might we add. We caught up with Kramer to talk ideal food days and beauty routines. Trust us, her advice for new moms is something we could all stand to hear. It’s perfect motivation to start your Monday off right…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?

Two eggs over easy with some avocado toast and fresh squeezed OJ. I’m not much of a lunch girl, but I snack throughout the day – apples, cottage cheese, carrots and hummus, almonds…I’m always snacking. I love a good hearty dinner: Salmon with risotto or a strip steak and a sweet potato with a kale salad. Okay, now I’m hungry!

How do you practice beauty from the inside out?

Be you. And be nice to yourself.

What are your morning and nightly beauty regimens? 

Lotion and more lotion. And I love a good mask here and there – La Mer and GlamGlow are great.

What are your go-to workouts? What workouts do you find overrated?

I love to hike outside. Recently, I’ve really enjoyed running again. I honestly find barre workouts overrated.

A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since your teen years…

Mascara and more mascara!

Favorite products to bring on the road?

I’m obsessed with candles, so I love Air Wicks on the tour bus – especially the warm apple crisp scent. It makes me think my grandma is with me!

What’s your perfect smoothie comprised of? Your perfect salad?

My perfect smoothie would consist of kale, spinach, cucumber, parsley, lots of ginger and lemon. I love all salads, but my favorite would be a Kale Caesar.

What’s your personal mantra? What is it?

Never let anyone steal your light.

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Almonds and apples. They are quick and easy when you are on the go!

Where do you draw inspiration from?

My life, my family and those around me.

We loved watching you on Dancing With The Stars! What workouts did you do to prep for such an intense physical competition?

Lots of squats and then more squats!

Do you have any resolutions for 2017? Any advice you’d give to women trying to start a new routine?

Take one day at a time. Don’t rush to the end or to what’s next; just truly enjoy the moment.

Any advice you’d give to new Moms?

It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to mess up. It’s okay to open a bottle of wine. Being a mom is the greatest job in the world, and sometimes it’s okay to not be perfect.

What are your favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to in each?

Nashville has really grown and there are so many great restaurants now. I love 5th and Taylor. In Los Angeles, I love The Little Door. And in Michigan…my mom’s kitchen!

If you could host a dinner party with any five people living or dead, who would be there? What would you cook?

I’d invite Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Natalie Wood. I would make pasta and have lots of wine!
