We all want brighter skin, especially when it’s cold & windy out. Add in long work hours and little sleep, and our skin is in need of some tender love and care. That’s why we called upon celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas for a homemade face mask to beautify our winter routine. She seriously delivered with not one but three. They’re sure to make your weekend better….
DIY Face Scrub:
The yogurt in this scrub is a great anti-inflammatory and its lactic acid will serve as a peel. The cornmeal of course, is the physical exfoliant – I like to use an exfoliant that contains both a physical and a “chemical” component. The grapefruit juice contains salicylic acid and is very cleansing. This scrub smells wonderful and is like having a mini facial right at home!
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup corn meal
1/4 cup Grapefruit juice
Cool in the fridge to thicken. Scrub onto the face for two minutes, then rinse.
Detoxifying Super Green Mask:
1/4 cup yogurt for exfoliation and soothing
1/2 avocado for hydrating and for B vitamins
2 tbsp oat grass juice or wheat grass juice for detoxing, stimulating lymphatic drainage and feeding the skin important nutrients
Smash avocado then combine all ingredients to form a paste. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off.
DIY Face Mask For Dry Winter Skin:
Honey is great because it is hydrating without risking a breakout. Avocado is amazing because it’s loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and b vitamins which are incredible for your lymphatic system and restoring the skins lipid layer. Mango is loaded with Vitamin C which brightens the skin, and olive oil is a skin softener and an anti-inflammatory.
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp avocado
2 tbsp olive oil
1 mashed mango
Combine ingredients then apply to face. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off.
