When we found out one of our favorite directors and actors – Ron Howard (Arrested Development, A Beautiful Mind) – was making a new miniseries with National Geographic – Mars – we knew we had to catch up with one of its stars to see what was up. Enter Jihae, the actress playing the twin leads on the show. She is seriously stunning, and arguably one of the most striking women we’ve had on the site. We sat down with the musician and actress to get the scoop on what’s in her fridge, her beauty routine, and to get her take on life on other planets. Read below for her interview, then catch the world premiere on November 14!
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
Meditation, yoga, Wing Chun Kung Fu as part of my weekly routine, and I try to eat healthy and stay away from GMO and processed foods with preservatives.
What are your morning and nightly beauty regimens?
What’s always in your fridge and pantry?
Salad, cucumbers, and ginger.
A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since your teen years…
Not wearing too much makeup.
Your upcoming project Mars got us thinking about life on other planets; do you believe in that?
The earth is a mere blue dot in the infinite universe…I think it’s arrogant to think we’re the only ones.
Do you follow astrology? If so, what do you love most about your sign?
Not so much, more peripherally…I hear Aquarians are free spirits.
What are your travel beauty routines? How do you stay fresh while traveling?
I make sure I hydrate, run and steam to stay fresh.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Inspiration can stem from something as simple as the drop of a leaf or a book, film or art that moves me.
What’s your favorite makeup look and how do you achieve it?
What or who do you swear you were in a past life and why?
I was a feline in one life as I have extreme affinity for them, and I was a creature from the sea in another. I love the ocean with a passion.
Where do you go to pamper yourself?
I go to the sea or mountains if I have the luxury of time, otherwise I call my favorite shiatsu masseuse for a home visit.
In the same vein as the new black in fashion, what is the new potato right now?
Women in charge! I’m playing lead roles as twins in a new Brian Grazer and Ron Howard TV series, ‘Mars’ coming out on National Geographic on Nov 13th (in 170 countries ) and Nov. 14th in the US.
At National Geographic, the CEO of the network is a brilliant woman (Courtney Monroe) and the Chief Editor of the 128-year-old magazine is Susan Goldberg, also a woman.
