Where To Eat In Manhattan!

When we asked Isaac Mizrahi why he loves New York City, he said it’s important to continuously get a fresh perspective on Manhattan in order to love it. So, that’s what we did with Eyeconic, our favorite online eyewear destination. We explored the great outdoors of our city from a totally new lens (both literally and figuratively, potatoheads).

Where do you fall in the scheme of Manhattan al fresco? Are you a night owl hopping from rooftop to rooftop, sporting round retro shades and an up-for-anything attitude? Perhaps you’re just an avid people-watcher, pounding the pavement of every West Village spot in classic, understated specs. Or maybe you’re a Sunday Times subscriber looking for any and every spot to dive into the news on weekends in perfect geek-chic eyewear. Whoever you are, and whatever you’re doing in the NYC open air, it’s no secret that sometimes you need to see Manhattan from a different viewpoint.

We followed our favorite New York City characters, who keep that Manhattan ethos alive, and paired them with perfect eyewear to ensure that fresh, new context we were looking for. We toured six quintessential spaces and paired them with the character ying-to-their-yang, so to speak. The Foodie, The Street Style Maven, The Night Owl, The People-Watcher, The Sunday Times Subscriber and The Freelancer. Chances are you know them and you love them. See how and where they make their way through the great playground that is the Manhattan outdoors, and what eyewear they sport simultaneously for a new take on the city we all love.

These Cole Haan blush tortoise glasses of the cat eye persuasion, go hand in hand with a Manhattan freelancer sporting a sleek laptop and an iced coffee at an outdoor coffee shop like Jack’s Stir Brew. Chic tech…that’s how we like it.

A pair of retro shades like these Calvin Klein Collection glasses are necessary when you’re hopping from rooftop to rooftop – just add a mojito at Jimmy at The James to the mix. This Night Owl presents New York City nightlife from her own unique lens. Or, Cognac-colored MCM shades…the perfect larger than life, sophisticated pick for a fun night out as the sun sets.

What better pick for a Sunday Times addict than eyewear with a vintage feel? Our old soul Sunday Times subscriber toes the line between modern and classic with these Etro gradient petrol glasses. The geek chic shape of the Cole Haan crystal clear glasses is also a perfect pairing to diving into the newspaper with a croissant and coffee at Lafayette.

Don’t you love your zany foodie friend? Are you her? Sipping rose in these Havana and ivory Salvatore Ferragamo glasses is super fitting, especially with their fun, funky feel and cat-eye shape. Or, sport these Calvin Klein Platinum sunglasses in yellow while perusing a new Manhattan menu – like the one at Seamore’s – with fervor. They’re the perfect lightweight, trendy pairing to the next meal you go to.

Classic, Bordeaux-colored MCM glasses: What better choice for a people-watcher flying subtly under the radar at the iconic Da Silvano? She aims to see and be seen, while doing more of the seeing of course…

What’s a more fitting choice for a Manhattan fashionista than these Karl Lagerfeld black and snow sunglasses? Our street style maven sports a pair of shades with a cool cat ears cutout on the frames, which – let’s face it – she probably pairs with her Charlotte Olympia kitty flats, while sipping cappuccino at Sant Ambroeus. We also love her in these Etro blue paisley shades. Nothing like an iconic paisley design to add a retro feel to the New York City sidewalks.
