#YourNewPotato

Okay potatoheads, a new column and Instagram party has officially begun and it’s called #yournewpotato. Each week, we’ll be picking our favorite Instagram to post on our site AND Instagram, that answers the question “What’s your new potato?” Just make sure to tag us @thenewpotato and use the hashtag #yournewpotato.

From Hamilton the musical to poke bowls and fur loafers, your new potato can be absolutely anything – and we want to know what it is! This week’s winner is digital marketing and brand strategy consultant @VickiMorton

On who she is…

I am a digital marketing and brand strategy consultant currently working with a few exciting hospitality and lifestyle brands. I came to New York a couple of years ago by way of California and Australia.

On her ideal food day…

Breakfast would be a black pepper scallion scone from this tiny, hidden pastry shop in an office building called Burrow. They have the most incredible scones and baked treats in a space that feels so unlike New York. Lunch would be Charlie Bird for their crudo, pastas, and fun vibe. I’d make dinner at home with my boyfriend, perhaps a porterhouse from Ottomanelli’s (no butcher does it better!) with roasted smashed new potatoes (ha!) and haricots verts with shallots and tomatoes (Smitten Kitchen has the best recipe). For dessert I’d have Cosme’s corn husk meringue…or two. (As a side note, on Valentine’s Day they offered this dessert as part of a prix fixe menu. My boyfriend and I ate both of ours, then ordered another one on top of that. The team remembered us weeks after as the couple that ordered three of these desserts!)

On beauty from the inside out…

I’ve gone through periods of time where I completely forget to take care of myself – skin, hair, diet, and mental well-being. For me, I need to actively take time for myself, whether it be yoga (Yoga Vida in NoHo is fantastic, plus they’re opening near me in Dumbo), face masks, or upping the amount of fresh veggies in my diet.

On why is this photo is her new potato…

This photo is from an event I hosted at Glaze Teriyaki with a friend. I’d have to say that dining with friends at Glaze is my New Potato – they serve the best everyday food in an elevated atmosphere that you wouldn’t expect from a fast casual restaurant. I love the salmon teriyaki with spicy sauce with white Japanese rice and a salad with their house-made carrot ginger dressing. It’s an awesome spot that I know is going to be everywhere one day!
