Barbershop’s Regina Hall

Everyone’s still reeling from this weekend’s release of the newest installment of Barbershop, and we’ve developed somewhat of a crush (isn’t that just perfect for Woman Crush Wednesday) on its female lead – Regina Hall. Hall took us through the funniest moments on set, her skincare routine and why when it comes to diversity in Hollywood, change has been made, but there’s still work to be done…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?

First I would wake up and have some pancakes.  Then for lunch, I’d have a burger and fries, with chips as a snack later on. For dinner, I’d have a salad and crab cakes.   ‎

How do you practice beauty from the inside out?

A lot of water, meditation, exercise and laughter.

What are your morning and nightly beauty routines?

I wash my face every morning and moisturize with Avalon Organics Moisturizer. At night I wash and moisturize again. I also use cleansing pads and a variety of eye creams.

How do you always start your day? What’s your go-to breakfast?

My go-to breakfast is either oatmeal or yogurt. In the mornings, I always take my dog Zeus out, play a game of Solitare or Ruzzle on my phone and call Mommy. I also usually work out in the mornings.

Your favorite part of filming Barbershop…‎

Being able to go on set and laugh with the cast every single day!

What was the funniest thing that happened on set?

The funniest thing that happened was when I made a bet with JB Smooth’s best friend about the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. I picked the Warriors, who obviously won. However, when he lost I told him he had to pay me in $2 bills because I wanted him to do work and go to the bank. When he paid up, I made him hand me each one, one by one.

What’s always in your on set trailer fridge?

Water…and Zeus’ food!

What’s your personal take on the diversity in Hollywood discussion?

I’m just looking forward to it continuing to progress. There’s been a change and there’s room for more.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? The worst?

The best would be to trust your gut. The worst was when I had a producer tell me that I shouldn’t do Scary Movie.

What’s the app you can’t live without and why?

The Amazon App because it lets me order things at the press of a button when I’m on location!

What ingredient makes everything better? Which do you think is overrated?

Hot sauce makes everything better! Mayo [overrated] – yuck!

What are your favorite cities for food? Where do you go in each?

I’m so bad at remembering restaurant names, but Chicago has the best Italian; I love the seafood in Washington, DC; everything in New York is amazing although the pizza and Jamaican food are the best. New Orleans will clog your arteries and give you a heart attack – the food is amazing. I love beignets!

In the same vein as ‘what is the new black’ in fashion, what’s the new potato right now?

I’d say it’s the movement to have more love and acceptance towards one another.
