We’d call Katie Nehra a triple threat up-and-comer, but she even seems to blow that term out of the water. The talented actress stars alongside Anna Kendrick in the new comedy Mr. Right, currently in theaters, and we loved her in the 2014 feature film, Alex of Venice (which she also co-wrote). Katie’s not new to the acting game. She’s been at it for years, starring in a host of New York productions, and even writing a one-woman stand-up comedy show. And if her acting and screenwriting skills weren’t already enough, the girl has seriously enviable style (and we’re taking notes). We’ve long been obsessed with Katie’s successful fashion line, Simone. She designs killer leather jackets and shrunken lettermans, worn by fashion icons like Mary-Kate Olsen and Rachel Zoe, and coveted by us. We had Nehra spill on all her beauty secrets…
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
I love really good coffee, so a latte or French Press coffee at home in the morning would start off my day. Breakfast would be eggs scrambled with some avocado. I’d have sushi for lunch and pasta for dinner (something spicy)!
How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
I have been doing the Tracy Anderson Method for over eight years now, long before it was the “hot” work out. I absolutely love it! I love dancing. I workout with Maria Kelling at Tracy Anderson. She’s the best!
What are your morning and nightly beauty routines?
I don’t wash my face in the morning, I just use sunscreen. Biologique-Recherche has a really good one. At night, I use Koh Gen Do wipes, May Lindstrom honey mud cleanser, all the Biologique-Recherche serums and eye cream.
A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since your teen years…
One accessory every woman should own…
Everyone woman should own a good pair of gold hoops.
What beauty products are always in your bag?
How to stay fresh on planes…
Serums and essential oils are great while flying. Natural Living makes great sets!
Your ideal dinner outfit…
Best foods and drinks for skin and hair? The worst?
Well, I love spicy foods, but I find they tend to make you red, so if I’m filming something I try not eat too many spicy things. Alcohol can really dehydrate you as well. I find water, yogurt, vegetables, broths, lamb and rice are probably the easiest things on your skin! Coconut oil is great in shakes and on the body. I use it for everything. A great at home scrub is coconut sugar, iced with coconut oil and a little olive oil. If you have dry skin, it’s a must!
Words to yourself upon looking in the mirror in the morning…
I’m running late!
How do you pamper yourself?
Acupuncture, scrubs and massage.
What’s ‘the new potato’ in beauty right now?
I love a glossy eyelid right now! I think it’s a fresh look for night and that’s the new potato!
