It’s that time of year when we absolutely love to order a great chai latte. Why? Because sometimes at 4pm the typical coffee-with-a-little-milk can seem somewhat drab, especially towards the end of a long work day.
You need a bit of a pick me up (one that occurs before your evening glass of red wine) and it needs to be sweeter than coffee, but perhaps not as indulgent as hot chocolate. If you’re anything like us, that selection is usually a chai latte, and there’s no reason you shouldn’t know how to make it at home. Here’s a quick and easy recipe…
2 cups Almond Milk (can also use Soy, Coconut, or regular Milk)
2 tablespoons Black Tea
1 Whole Cinnamon Sticks
5 Whole Cloves
8 crushed Cardamom Pods
1 Star Anise Pods
1/2 teaspoon ground Ginger
1 tablespoon Agave
Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pot. Bring to a simmer and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and steep for 5 minutes. Pour into cups to serve. Sprinkle with cinnamon for garnish.
