If you watched True Detective this season, you probably noticed the beautiful blonde Leven Rambin, who played Rachel McAdam’s sister – Athena Bezzerides – in the series. You may also recognize her as the girl from The Hunger Games who gave us all nightmares after being stung to death by killer wasps (seriously, that scene still haunts us). There’s no doubting the actress is an up-and-comer in her own right, as well as someone we couldn’t help plugging for beauty tips.
Her newest movie – 7 Minutes – comes out on DVD today. We got her take on all things concerning beauty from the inside out, and apparently that includes Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers…
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
A gluten-free vegan breakfast of waffles, scones, jam and tea, or an organic green smoothie. Then, a large salad with all types of colorful fruits, vegetables, and avocado, or a veggie burger. For dinner, a perfectly cooked salmon with seasoned vegetables and olives and pickles to nibble.
How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
I eat as healthily and organically as possible, because I can feel a difference when I eat any other way. I don’t eat meat often, and I try to stick to things that are holistically nourishing.
What are your morning and nightly beauty regimens?
I struggled with my skin my whole life until recently when I stopped using chemicals and started using drying castile soaps, tea tree oil soap (I get it from Tigre Mountain Soap company, a little soap company form Arkansas), and oil-controlling serum with witch Hazel (I use Bee Naturals).
A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since your teen years…
Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers. You can’t beat that taste or the color!
Five beauty products you can’t live without…
The beauty product we will always find in your purse…
Best and worst foods/drinks for your skin and hair…
Sadly, I can’t do coffee. It makes me a nervous wreck and makes my skin more prone to breakouts and large pores. I take Hairburst Vitamins for my hair; my hair has grown a lot since starting them.
Words to yourself upon looking in the mirror…
Where do you go to pamper yourself?
I love going to Korean Day Spas where I can lay in Himalayan Salt Rooms or Clay Rooms and just sauna, sweat and relax. Also, my fiancé rubs my head and scalp every night and I swear it is has healing powers!
What is ‘the new potato’ in beauty?
Focusing on internal beauty and health, and finding joy in life, which leads to external radiance.
