We chatted with juice guru Kris Carr on all things wellness and her story was beyond inspiring. Lucky for us, not only did Carr give us an interview and 1 day cleanse, she also gave us six recipes to no doubt us make us liquid-converts. The below milks, smoothies and juices will no doubt make up your weekday breakfast regimen, or at least make you obsessed with all things of the juice and smoothie persuasion.
Bloat Buster
Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)
Ingredients:
6 leaves dandelion greens
1 large cucumber
2 large leaves Swiss chard
1/8 cup parsley, leaves and stems, tightly packed
2 cups honeydew melon cubes
Directions:
1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
2. Juice all ingredients.
Cashew Chai Milk
Yields 3 3/4 Cups
Ingredients:
1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2 hours, rinsed, and drained
1⁄2-inch piece ginger, peeled
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1⁄4 teaspoon cardamom
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons maple syrup
3 1⁄4 cups water
Directions:
1. In a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients till creamy and smooth. Store in an airtight container for up to three days in the fridge. *adjust sweetness as needed
All Day Energy Smoothie
Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
1⁄4 ripe avocado
1 banana, frozen
1 1⁄2 cups almond milk or nondairy milk of choice
2 teaspoons maple syrup or 1 pitted Medjool date
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
2. Blend till smooth and serve.
*adjust sweetness as needed
Raspberry Revitalizer
Makes 2 Servings (20 to 24 Ounces)
Ingredients:
1 cup kale, tightly packed
1 cup raspberries, frozen
1 banana, frozen
1 tablespoon coconut butter or coconut oil
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3⁄4 cups nondairy milk of choice
Directions:
1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
2. Blend till smooth and serve.
Brazil Nut Milk
Yields 3 1/2 to 4 Cups
Ingredients:
1 cup Brazil nuts, soaked for 4 hours
2 to 3 pitted Medjool dates
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract or the seeds of 1 vanilla bean, scraped
4 cups water
Directions:
1. In a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients till totally smooth.
2. Create a large, double layer of cheesecloth and hold it over a large mixing bowl, or hold a nut milk bag over a large mixing bowl. Pour the Brazil nut milk through the cheesecloth or bag and squeeze thoroughly. You can compost or discard the nut pulp. Transfer the nut milk to an airtight container. It will keep in the fridge for about 3 days.
Herbal Elixir
Makes 2 Servings (16 to 20 Ounces)
Ingredients:
1 large cucumber
2 1/2 cups pineapple cubes
1/4 cup basil, leaves and stems, tightly packed
1/4 cup cilantro or parsley, leaves and stems, tightly packed
1/8 cup mint leaves, tightly packed
4 stalks kale
Directions:
1. Wash and prep all ingredients.
2. Juice all ingredients.
