We sometimes find ourselves wanting to go Swedish blonde, and Welcome To Sweden‘s Josephine Bornebusch is often the reason. The actress rocks platinum blonde and a fresh face like no other Swede we’ve seen. For the record, we’re also obsessed with anything Amy Poehler (a producer on Welcome To Sweden, whose brother Greg stars in the show) touches…but who isn’t? With the show’s premiere on NBC this weekend on Sunday at 8, we decided to catch up with Bornebusch on all things beauty from the inside out…
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
Great question! In a dream world, I would start off with a breakfast buffet at Berns Hotel in Stockholm. Fruit, croissants, coffee – the works. For lunch, I’d feel so guilty about stuffing myself earlier that I would settle on a tiny Cobb salad and some sparkling water (so grateful those bubbles don’t contain any calories – life saver) at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Moving on to dinner, I would fly myself to Koji’s, the most amazing sushi restaurant in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle. Then, on the plane back home, I probably could not resist a little cupcake, some ice cream and to be honest, probably a bag of M&M’s too.
How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
Not sure how much of a practice it is, but I try to sleep as much as I possibly can. Though with a ten-month-old baby hanging around, that’s easier said than done.
What are your morning and nightly beauty regimens?
I always start off with Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for my face, and then Restylane Day Cream SPF15. When it’s time to hit the bed, I always make sure to apply a couple of drops of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate after washing off.
A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since your teen years…
I guess it is washing my face with soap before I go to bed, which everyone keeps telling me not to do.
Five beauty products you can’t live without…
Donna Karen Cashmere Mist Deodorant Stick (why are there so few deodorant sticks for women!?), BareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara, Chanel Le Blush Crème, Narciso Rodriguez ‘For Her’ Eau de Parfum, and Diorskin Nude Concealer.
Three beauty products we always will find in your purse..
Best and worst foods/drinks for your skin and hair…
I can’t say I know much about that, but I genuinely hope margaritas are the universal remedy. And I suspect deep fried food isn’t brilliant…at least greasy fingers mess up the skin when you accidentally rub them in your face!
What’s your hair routine?
I wash with Kiehl’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo, and then with Kiehl’s Amino Acid Conditioner for a good five minutes. I avoid blow-drying as much as possible and I try not to color or dye it more than I need to. Trust me, it tends to fall off after a while.
Words to yourself upon looking in the mirror…
Cheer up buddy!
Where do you go to pamper yourself?
Grand Hotel Spa in Stockholm.
In the same vein as ‘what is the new black’ in fashion, what is ‘the new potato’ right now when it comes to beauty?
Don’t overdo it, natural always wins. And matte lips for President!
