5 Easy Rum Cocktails

On the Friday before July 4th, the question becomes not just how much will you be drinking this weekend but what you will be drinking. Though we may be responsible for a slight (or severe) headache Sunday, we wanted to send you off in style on the drinks front. Here are five easy rum cocktails for your holiday weekend…

Mint Mojito Recipe

Ingredients:

1.5 ounces light Rum

1 tablespoon Simple Syrup

8-10 Fresh Mint Leaves

1 teaspoon Lemon Juice

1 teaspoon Lime Juice, plus wedges for garnish

1/2 cup Sparking Water

Ice

Directions:

In a cup muddle, mint leaves with lemon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. Top the muddled mint mixture with ice.  Pour the rum over the ice. Top with sparkling water. Stir well to combine. Serve with lime wedge and extra mint garnish.

Jamaican Rum Punch

Ingredients:

2 ounces Jamaican Rum

1/4 cup Pineapple Juice

1/4 cup Mango Juice

2 tablespoons Lime Juice

1 tablespoon Grenadine

Directions:

Stir all ingredients together well. Pour over ice. Garnish with pineapple slices and lime slices.

Dark and Stormy

Ingredients:

2 ounces Dark Rum

2/3 cup Ginger Beer

2 teaspoons Lime Juice, plus wedge for Garnish

Candied Ginger, for garnish

Directions:

Fill a glass with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, followed by the lime juice and ginger beer. Stir well. Garnish with lime wedge and candied ginger.

Mai Tai

Ingredients:

1 ounce Spiced Rum

1/2 ounce Coconut Flavored Rum

1 tablespoon Coconut Water

2 teaspoons Lime Juice

1/4 cup Pineapple Juice

2 tablespoons Orange Juice

Directions:

Stir all ingredients together well. Serve over ice. Garnish with lime wedge, pineapple wedge, cherry, or orange wedge.

Pina Colada

Ingredients:

2 ounces dark rum

3 tablespoons Coconut Cream

2 tablespoons Pineapple Juice

1/4 cup frozen Pineapple

1 cup ice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until combined. Garnish with pineapple slice.
