Actor JR Bourne

With Canada Day being tomorrow, and last night being the season 5 premiere of Teen Wolf, we couldn’t help but catch up with the show’s Canadian alumnus – JR Bourne – who we kind of instantly crushed on. Bourne filled us in on his ideal food day, personal grooming go-tos and surprising things women don’t know about men…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?

My ideal food day would be truly getting to eat all of my favorite meals with the understanding that I wouldn’t experience any of the repercussions I might normally experience as a result of such indulgence. It would involve burgers, fries, ice cream – a lot of ice cream – some more fries – probably poutine style – pasta, pizza, and a lasagna filled with chorizo, Portobello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, spinach and ricotta cheese, all stacked really high. I would definitely save some for the next day. This is a two-parter – that lasagna the next day cold from the fridge. Done. I could die now.

What’s your go-to breakfast?

A protein drink every morning with blueberries, banana, omega oil, flaxseed, and coconut water. On weekends, a breakfast burrito in Atwater Village!

Your ideal workout routine…

A lot of sweating, a lot of breathing, a lot of grunting, a lot of lifting, and then feeling great afterwards and knowing that I’m going to repeat it all again tomorrow.

How do you balance health and eating out?

I eat at a lot of the same places. I find the ones that have clean and healthy food and I just keep going back. Boring? Never!

Any personal grooming tips? What are they?

Ha! I’m ridiculously low maintenance. My mother always told me to splash hot water on my face at the end of each day for sixty seconds. She called it a mini facial. She also said wash your feet at night if you want to sleep better. It totally works!

Tips for picking the perfect first date spot…

Pick somewhere that is more you then you’d care to admit.

One surprising thing women don’t know about men…

We have body issues.

One thing men should know about women…

They should be running the world. I kind of think we know that though.

What are you always snacking on, on set?

A go-to recipe (or takeout order) for eating in…

Yellow chicken curry with no rice, and fresh vegetable rolls.

Words to act by…

Deeper. Further. Egoless. Truth. Authenticity.

Who’s your style icon and why?

I don’t have an icon. At times I wish I did. I have looks I like on other people, but I try to just dress how I feel I’ll be most comfortable in the world on that day.

What are your favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to in each?

New York City. My boy Scott Johnson and his wife Kim literally pick where we eat every time I’m there and every time it’s one of my favorite experiences. I think they put something in my drinks because I never remember the names. I always have to go back with them.

If you could host a dinner party with any five people living or dead, who would be there? What would you cook or order in?

I’d try and make that lasagna I mentioned earlier and I’d invite my Mom and Dad because I haven’t seen them in so long. And probably that’s it. No one else would be able to take my attention away from them.
