How To Drink More Water

Drinking water can be fun. We feel like water is to adults what vegetables are to kids. We’re constantly being told how amazing water is for wellness, but when push comes to shove sometimes water (like vegetables to a 7-year old) can be super-dull to consume. Infusing water with our favorite fruits and vegetables is a great, natural way to enjoy drinking it. Here are our top 5 favorite ways to do so…

 

Blueberry Lemon Infused Water

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water

1 1/2 cups Blueberries

1 Lemon, thinly sliced

Directions:

In an air tight container, combine water, blueberries, and sliced lemon. Seal the container tightly with a lid. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.  Do not let the blueberries and lemon slices infuse for more than 36 hours. Enjoy over ice.

Citrus Infused Water

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water

1 Lemon, thinly sliced

1 Lime, thinly sliced

1 Grapefruit, thinly sliced and cut into half moons (could also use an Orange)

Directions:

In an air tight container, combine water and sliced citrus. Seal the container tightly with a lid. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.  Do not let the citrus slices infuse for more than 36 hours. Enjoy over ice.

*Remove the pith if you do not like the bitter flavor of the skin

Cucumber Basil Water Infusion

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water

1 1/2 cups Cucumber, thinly sliced

2 sprigs fresh Basil, lightly crushed

Directions:

In an air tight container, combine water, cucumbers, and crushed basil. Seal the container tightly with a lid. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.  Do not let the cucumbers and basil infuse for more than 2 days. Enjoy over ice.

Lavender Infused Water

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water

4 pieces fresh or dried Lavender

Directions:

In an air tight container, combine water and lavender. Seal the container tightly with a lid. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.  Do not let the lavender infuse for more than 24 hours or the flavor will be too strong. Enjoy over ice.

Stone Fruit Infused Water

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water

2 cups sliced stone fruit, such as peaches, nectarines, and plums

Directions:

In an air tight container, combine water and stone fruit slices. Seal the container tightly with a lid. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.  Do not let the stone fruit slices infuse for more than 24 hours or the fruit slices will disintegrate. Enjoy over ice.
