You can start watching The Real Housewives of New York again (which premieres tonight on Bravo), because Bethenny is back. Seriously, if anyone can bring true realism to a ‘reality tv show’ (not that we’ve ever watched Real Housewives, The Bachelor, or reality shows in general of course…) it’s Bethenny Frankel.

She’s also keeping it real with her new book out today – I Suck At Relationships So You Don’t Have To – whose title speaks for itself. Like the episode The Opposite on Seinfeld, Bethenny – like George Costanza – aims to have you do the exact opposite of everything she’s ever done in dating. Frankel filled us in on ways to kickstart healthy eating, our relationship with food and why women are most definitely crazy…

From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?

For breakfast, definitely an egg white omelette with spinach, tomato, onion, and feta cheese. On the side, a scooped out toasted whole wheat bagel with butter and a few slices of turkey bacon. And of course, iced coffee with soy milk and a splash of Skinnygirl Stevia Liquid Sweetener. Lunch is usually a “use what you have salad” but my favorite is arugula salad with bresaola, shaved parmesan, olive oil, and a lemon squeeze. Sometimes, I sneak in a split pea soup, as well! Then it’s definitely time for some kind of sweetness. Recently, I’ve been craving and loving my new Dark Chocolate with Almond Skinnygirl Nutrition Bar. They are perfection! Dinner is always changing, but, ideally, I’d go for roasted Brussels sprouts, sliced charred steak, baked potato with salt and butter, a crab cake, and a kale Caesar salad. And of course, my favorite cocktails! My recent favorites have been Skinnygirl Pinot Grigio or Skinnygirl Bare Naked Vodka with olives.

How do you practice beauty from the inside out? 

I try to sleep, keyword being try (laughing out loud). I always drink water, even though I hate water. I exercise when I can, but put sleep first (again, laughter begins). A beach walk or snowboarding, combined with daily yoga is my ideal workout. And I love to dance to hip-hop. My number one priority when it comes to feeling beautiful is laughter (once again – ensue laughter).

What’s your morning and nightly beauty regimen?

I always wash my face with Dr. Howard Sobel cleanser, and his toner is phenomenal. La Mer or Kate Somervile serum and Bobbi Brown moisturizer. I do all of this every morning and every night. Once a week, I use La Prairie night mask and my Clarisonic for a deep clean.

What advice should new moms take?

Don’t give or take unsolicited advice.

What are the most annoying things new moms say to other new moms?

Don’t get me started…

“I’m producing so much milk.” I mean, TMI, people!

“My kid sleeps through the night.” Really? Then what are the bags under your eyes from?

“I have the perfect baby.” We all have the perfect baby.

What advice would you give a woman looking to kickstart a healthy lifestyle?

Always get a good night’s sleep. That is the most important and best thing you can do for yourself. Cut back on sugar, caffeine, red meat, and processed foods. Then, pray for the best.

What made you decide to rejoin The Real Housewives of New York City? What was filming again like?

I decided to rejoin Housewives because I simply missed the connection with the audience. I loved filming. After what I’ve been through recently, petty housewife arguments are humorous and kept me lighthearted.

Any regrets or unhappy surprises?

No regrets. I don’t believe in them. Some of my new friendships with the housewives are surprising, but those are happy surprises. Everything from filming this season has been positive for me. I really enjoyed the experience.

What did you do differently this time around?

This time around, I took it a lot lighter. I just enjoyed myself. It was much different than any other season or show I’ve filmed. This season was such a wonderful experience.

Could you tell us a bit about the new book?

My new book, I Suck At Relationships So You Don’t Have To, is a “do what I say, not as I’ve done” approach to relationships. I’ve learned more from my mistakes than my successes. I definitely know how to have a great relationship; I just haven’t been able to follow my own advice.

What advice do you have for women getting up in the morning looking in the mirror and getting dressed?

Love yourself. Less is more. Look dewy. Be confident. Focus on the positives.

What don’t men know about women that they should know?

Men have no idea that we’re crazy. You can’t fight crazy. Guys – just come from a place of yes and it will all work out. Flowers don’t hurt either.

What foods are best and worst for your skin?

Avocados are great for your skin, as are greens and anything containing a lot of water. Hydration is key, people! Anything dehydrating isn’t great for your skin, but that’s all the fun, tasty stuff, so just supplement with water.

What should everyone’s relationship with food be?

Your relationship with food should be balanced. Indulge and balance with good investments. Don’t deprive. Food isn’t your best friend or your enemy. You weren’t bad if you ate or good if you didn’t.

What’s a go to weeknight recipe for you in three steps?

I had to do four steps. Whoops!

1. Throw washed arugula in a bowl.
2. Shave parmesan on top.
3. Add a few slices of bresaola.
4. Toss with olive oil, lemon, salt, and pepper.

Do you have a personal mantra? What is it? 

I come from a place of yes. YES!

Advice you’d give to your younger self…

It is okay to not know. Live in the moment. Youth is wasted on the young.

What are your favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to in each?

Sydney, Australia has such a fantastic influence from Asia, making Mr. Wong one of my favorite places to eat while I’m there. Being a downtown girl in New York, I tend to dine at L’Artusi for Italian, La Esquina for Latin American, and Mr. Chow for Chinese. When I visit Los Angeles, I always make time to stop by Boa, Giorgio Baldi, Soho House. For seafood in Chicago, I always pop into Hugo’s – it’s delicious! Finally, when I’m in Miami, my go-to’s are Scarpetta and Cecconi’s at Soho House.

In the same vein as what is the new black in fashion, what’s the new potato right now?

Apps, even though I don’t have any. Online dating is huge, and definitely the most popular way to meet people now.
