Cooking For A Cause

It’s no secret that Ariel Foxman and Brandon Cardet Hernandez are possibly one of our favorite couples ever; I mean, we did have a legendary dessert with them – remember? Last week marked the annual Food For Thought Benefit for the Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters; the school where Hernandez is principal (a very popular one at that). His event was an absolute success, and it included an auction and a tasting – hosted by Anthony Bourdain and James Patterson – from some of New York’s favorite chefs.

Ex-potato pats like Marcus Samuelsson, April Bloomfield, Andrew Carmellini and Christina Tosi cooked up a storm, and everything went towards the welfare of the students at the Bronx Academy of Letters. Here are five recipes inspired by some of the dishes we saw there, because we can absolutely get on board with cooking for a cause…

1. Gluten-Free Coconut Cookie

2. Seared Fish Tacos

3. Mushroom Macaroni and Cheese

4. Braised Short Ribs

5. Barrel Aged Manhattan
