The lovely Tiffani Thiessen has a new cooking show – Dinner at Tiffani’s - which premiered on Cooking Channel last night. Who knew Saved by the Bell’s Kelly Kapowski could cook? Um, we did. Think there’s a better time than #ThrowbackThursday to sit down and chat with one of our favorite childhood stars (and current one, now that she’s officially a potato-head)? It’s alright cause we’re saved by the bell…or Thiessen’s mushroom, leek, and prosciutto pizza that is.
From start to finish, what would be your ideal food day?
If it’s clean eating it would be quinoa oatmeal with fresh berries, a kale salad and then roasted chicken with roasted fresh market veggies. If it’s my cheat day it would be pancakes, a good burger or fried chicken and then of course poutine with either duck confit or short rib.
What are your morning and nightly beauty routines?
In the morning, clean my face, day moisturizer, sunscreen and sometimes a little make up if needed to go somewhere nice. At night, clean face, night moisturizer, eye cream, lip balm and hand cream or oil.
Your go-to weeknight recipe…
Roasted chicken is the easy staple for any night, especially weekends.
What’s your workout regimen?
Spinning on Monday and Wednesday, pilates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a personal trainer on Tuesday and Thursday, and hikes on weekends with family and the dogs.
A beauty mainstay that hasn’t changed since Saved by The Bell & Beverly Hills 90210…
Drinking plenty of water and making time to exercise.
A fashion mainstay that hasn’t changed since Saved by the Bell & Beverly Hills 90210…
Jeans, a t-shirt and my staple…flip flops. I will always wear flip flops.
If you could give yourself one piece of advice back then, what would it be?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Where do you love to travel? What won’t you travel without?
I love traveling everywhere. Traveling has been a part of my life since I was young and I always look forward to going to new places. I never leave home without my phone, iPad and neck pillow if it’s a long flight.
Your favorite childhood recipe…
My Mom’s cheesecake.
What got you into cooking? What do you cook on a typical weeknight?
I have always loved cooking. I learned from the women in my family. On a typical weekend night it can be anything from a roast, to enchiladas or chili (we’re talking winter here of course).
What’s always in your bag?
iPhone, lip balm and baby wipes.
Your addicted to X on Netflix and Y on Spotify….
I don’t use either. I know I’m weird. The show I watch right now when it’s on is The Leftovers on HBO and then in terms of music, I love a wide range, from David Gray to Taylor Swift.
What are you favorite cities for food? What restaurants do you go to in each?
If you could host a dinner party with any five people, living or dead, who would be there? What would you cook?
I always love being with my friends and family. Go figure. As for what I would make, I would most likely grill pizzas for them. Those are always a crowd pleaser.
