Kyle Anderson

We stopped by Marie Claire to hang out with accessories director Kyle Anderson. Turns out, Anderson has a weakness for two things – couture and candy. We talked a bit about both; what better way to get us over hump day?

Describe your ideal food day…

Breakfast at The Lamb’s Club. I love their healthy juices. My favorite is the Carrot Ginger. I also love their Huevos Rancheros. Western is a huge trend for pre-fall, so I try to eat Western food to match my new fringe Proenza Schouler bag and Chanel bandana bag.

What’s your drink?

The only soda I drink is Coke. No diet; I hate diet. I drink about thirty glasses of water a day. And three to four iced coffees from Starbucks with one splenda and a ‘squirt’ of skim milk.

What do you typically snack on at Marie Claire?

Anything. People send me a lot of food. I think they know I like to eat. I always say I eat like a straight man, but honestly I try to snack on a Paleo bar. It fills you up and it’s low in calories (Eighty per serving). I think it has vitamins in it. I might be making that up…and it tastes like a real chocolate bar. Although, today im snacking on Japanese candy. Hey, you never know.

What’s your go-to 4pm pick me up?

I usually have an iced coffee with two iced water chasers. It puts me right in the mood for the 4pm to 7pm work shift.

Best food item sent to the office ever…

Hmm…it’s hard to say. I eat almost anything. The best for me would be a Starbucks gift card. I probably spend $10,000 a year there. I go seven days a week, three times a day. But the best was probably those cookies from Levain Bakery. They’re so sweet and huge. They put me in a food coma.

If you could pillage anyones closet for accessories, who would it be?

Nina Garcia.

How do you start your day on a good note?

Caffeine and Korean pop songs.

What are some of your healthy routines?

Shopping is my cardio. I try to get myself out of bed on the weekend and walk to Barneys and Bergdorf and then back home. Then it’s back to naptime and snacktime.

What catches your eye on every menu?

BBQ ribs.

What are your favorite places to travel to?

Stockholm. I love Swedish food. You never have to feel guilty. It’s all top-quality and healthy food. People don’t eat poor quality food or unhealthy food there. I love dill; it’s in everything. And I love seafood.

What won’t you travel without?

Ambien. I’m a bad traveler.

The farthest you’ve traveled for an accessory…

I used to go to Japan just to go shopping. With no other purpose. I’d bring three suitcases – two empty – and fill them up with cheap clothes, when I was a ‘young boy’. Now we go shopping a lot in Paris during fashion week. I only go shopping in New York or Paris. I never buy anything in Milan; we’re too busy, even though I love Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. In Paris, we always go to Montaigne Market, Givenchy, KTZ, Balmain…oh and Chanel. Of course. Duh.

In the same vein as ‘what is the new black,’ what is the new potato of accessories?

Chanel is my life. I love Chanel bags. Audemars is my favorite watch brand. My favorite shoes are Giuseppe Zanotti or Gianvito Rossi for girls. My favorite diamonds are Graff and my favorite fine jewelry in general is Cartier. I’ve never met a panther I didn’t like.

What’s always in your fridge?

Sparkling water, left over Korean food, and Japanese food. I’m almost half Korean. I lived in Korea for three years.

Your go-to recipe for eating in…

A childhood recipe you loved growing up…

My mom’s lasagna.

Favorite night of the week and why?

It’s a tie between Monday and Friday. My boyfriend and I go to Korean BBQ every Monday and Friday for date night.

What are your favorite cities for food? Where do you go in each?

In New York I love The Lamb’s Club for breakfast. I go there a few times every week. For lunch I like Bar Americain. For dinner I like The Modern at the MOMA. It’s probably my favorite. But I could eat Korean food seven days a week. I always go to Hanbat on thirty-fifth street. Im also obsessed with Houston’s (Hillstone). It’s so good. I love their veggie burger, steak and their hot fudge studae is BA-nanas.

In Paris I go to L’Avenue everyday, or Le Souffle or Caviar Kaspia. In Milan, I eat only in my room at the Bulgari Hotel, or in the hotel restaurant. I don’t like to go out to eat in Milan unless it’s with a male model. In that case I go wherever my only Italian male model, Andrea Pretti, wants.

If you could have a dinner party with five people, living or dead, who would be there?

My boyfriend because he’s the love of my life, Miley Cyrus because she’s funny, Alexander Skarsgard only if he was gay (because he’s so hot), Bryanboy because he’s a queen, and Lola Rykiel because she is my real life Daisy Buchanan.
