Valentine’s Day Roundup

‘What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?’ can be a somewhat irritating question, but nevertheless one that many of us got this week. So, we figured we’d check in with a few of our favorite New York tastemakers and see what they had planned, in case you needed some ideas…

Jamie Beck, Photographer behind Ann Street StudioWe spend so much of our life running around and eating out – be it from travel, working late, or industry dinners – that just making a simple meal at home together will be the best Valentine’s date this girl could dream of. “

Erica Domesek, P.S. – I Made This: “This year I’m spending a snowy V-Day day with my best friends Stacy London and Jon Zeiders – who is in from Hong Kong. We’re having a fun and fancy dinner downtown. I made them valentines and bought them a funny book about friendship and a sexy box of matches. Since I’m snowed in today, I think I may bake too!”

Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador to Barneys New York: “Jonny [Jonathan Adler] is working in India – so am sending him kisses across the planet.”

Kerry Diamond, Co-Owner of Seersucker & Nightingale 9, and Editorial Director of Cherry Bombe: “Because my boyfriend [Rob Newton] will be cooking at Seersucker, we’re celebrating on Sunday. I bought tickets to Matthew Barney’s “River of Fundament” film at Brooklyn Academy of Music. However, I haven’t told him it’s six hours long. I might be going by myself!”

Jennifer Fisher, Jewelry Designer: “We are getting out of Dodge and taking the kids to the Bahamas with our best friend’s…a little sun and a side of semi-romance. After this polar vortex I will take anything I can get…”

Amirah Kassem, Flour Shop: “Valentine’s Day is a crazy time of the year. I run around NYC feeling like a cake cupid! I kind of wish I had a costume – maybe next year! Its also one of my favorite baking days because I get to use heart sprinkles and so much of my favorite color – PINK!!!”

Danielle Snyder, Co-Founder, DANNIJO: “For V-Day, I’m gonna spend it with my man. He’s either going to cook for me or take me to a new spot from our “places to try” list.”

Jodie Snyder Morel, Co-Founder, DANNIJO: “For Valentines Day, my husband always cooks me a homemade meal.”
