The Almond Smoothie

Now, have we ever tried to act like we’re professional chefs or maestros in the kitchen? No; we leave that to our tastemakers. What we can do though are the basics, ones we all know and love (and we think we do them pretty well). After all, potatoes never get old right?

It’s time for the essentials. Even though it’s depressingly wintry out, and we all feel like comforting ourselves with heavy food and drink, there’s still nothing like the perfect almond smoothie. We’ve seen it every which way, but a simple banana, almond butter and almond milk combination (for us) bears the same result as a milkshake – it definitely makes us smile. See our way to do this essential below…

1. Put 1 cup of Almond Milk, 2 tablespoons of Almond Butter and 1 ripe banana into a Vitamix or blender.

2. Add a teaspoon of honey, a pinch of cinnamon or cacao, and 2-3 tablespoons of Chia Seeds (optional, but good for you).

3. Add a handful of ice, depending on how cold you like it (too much ice will make it a bit more like a slushy).

4. Blend and Serve.

*We often make this as a nutritious and filling afternoon pick-me-up, but it’s also great for breakfast, alone or as a accompaniment to oatmeal.
