During the summer, we’re all searching for a kind of paradise by the beach. Whether we hope to stumble upon one, or go desperately searching for it, it’s just part of what we need for the getaway. We happened to find one this weekend at restaurant designer Zachary Lynd’s pop-up project Turf, a beachside trailer in Ditch Plains, Montauk that serves up disturbingly delicious plates like Kale and Shrimp Salad, Scallop Ceviche, fresh Lobster Rolls and Fish Tacos.
Lynd reigns over the charming beachside trailer each day with his girlfriend Kelly Framel (who Danielle and I think of as a long lost sister), the beauty behind hit fashion site The Glamourai. We’re kind of loving how this duo does the exact same thing in different spheres – one in fashion, one in food. While Framel styles and conceives incredible fashion photo shoots and experiences, celebrating the art that is clothing and accessories, Lynd does the same for restaurants. He works with chefs and restaurateurs to create unique and innovative restaurant projects, getting his hands in everything from the design and the branding to the plates (which are fully compostable at Turf).
The majority of the food at Turf is also sourced locally, so while Lynd has a bevy of farm fresh tomatoes or plums (whatever the ever-rotating menu is featuring), Framel has new stomping ground for photo-shoots at farms Lynd bears great relationships with. It seems our food-fashion obsession is taking shape in ‘couples’ as well; can we crush a little more on these two? We visited for lunch and took a dive into the beachside paradise these two have created…
