Russ and Daughters have been New York’s favorite purveyors of caviar, smoked fish and specialty foods since 1914. Basically one of our favorite places to peruse, the spot’s appealing aromas of fresh herring, smoked salmon, and white fish are only part of its charm. The packaging and color scheme of its caviars are almost as delicious as what is inside, and the original vintage sign outside transports you back four generations when immigrants were huddled at its doors. If you’re looking for a classic New York breakfast to take home, this is the place to do your food shopping.
Menu recommendations: Smoked trout, caviar cream cheese, french trout roe, Roberta’s bread – Todd Selby (The Selby); Norwegian smoked salmon or caviar on blini (Linda Wells (Editor-in-Chief, Allure)
“I always have breakfast at Russ and Daughters when I’m in New York. I can’t not.” – Chris Cosentino (Winner, Top Chef Masters)
