CHEF IN ANOTHER CITY
Dominique Crenn – a favorite chic chef of ours – recently came to New York for The Omnivore World tour. A native of San Francisco, Dominique’s visit was great news for us. We couldn’t help but get the inside scoop on her day to day food escapades while she was here. Premiering our very first “Chef in Another City” column, Crenn deliciously dines her way through Manhattan – so grab your fork and knife New Yorkers.
4:30 am: Arrive at SFO airport – Coffee not the best. My Chef de Cuisine Michael Evans is telling me a story of his life…I am already exhausted.
5:22 am: The people behind me are talking about football and analyzing which team is better. Really?!! That early??!! I need another coffee.
3:00 pm: Arrive at JFK. This airport is so soigné…pretty hip.
4:30 pm: Arrive at Aloft hotel in Brooklyn. It’s an ultra urban, hip hotel situated in downtown Brooklyn.
6:30 pm: Dinner at Roberta’s in Brooklyn. It’s a rather hidden restaurant in an industrial East Williamsburg area. The restaurant is located in a very cool space and serves mostly pizza, made in a wood-burning oven. It is Neapolitan in inspiration and technique. All Omnivore team and traveling Chefs are present.
