Skinnygirl Cocktails

We all know and love Bethenny Frankel of Skinnygirl Cocktails – which is why The New Potato couldn’t resist partnering on her event on October 12th at Food Network’s New York Wine & Food Festival. Leading up to the big night, we sat down with Bethenny to hear about killer ingredients, dinner party picks and how many cocktails is too many cocktails…

What would be your ideal food day?

A day in which I have time to make or eat a great colorful salad and actually be in the mood for it.

A day when I have time to sit down for three civilized meals rather than grabbing something and eating it in the back of a car.

A Skinnygirl cocktail would be involved…

What’s your drink?

I drink Skinnygirl margaritas, Skinnygirl cucumber vodka or club soda with lime. I love Kombucha and Starbucks soy misto – always decaf.

When it comes to cocktails, what’s your cutoff?

I try to practice what I preach, so I never drink any non-clear liquor and I try to stick to two drinks maximum. When I go to three, it is not a great idea.

What would your last meal be, and who would it be with?

I would definitely not be hungry at my last meal – but if I were, then eggplant parmesan with an old school caesar salad and a hot fudge sundae! My last meal might also be with Mark Zuckerberg…

How do you start your day?

No two days are the same. Some days I eat cereal, on others a bagel or eggs, and other days I have a muffin. As I discuss in “Naturally Thin,” you decide what you want and balance out what you eat accordingly. Your diet is a bank account, so choose how to invest and diversify.

What’s your splurge? Where do you get it?

I don’t believe in bingeing or splurging. You can indulge every day and not gain weight. No one ever got fat from one cookie or a piece of pizza.

What restaurant never goes out of style?

The Palm never goes out of style.

What’s your go-to recipe when cooking for family and friends?

My go-to recipe is crab cakes.

What ingredient do you consider overrated? What ingredient are you convinced makes everything better?

I think that fresh mozzarella is overrated but truffle oil makes everything better.
