NEW YORK CITY GUIDE
There isn’t someone more suited to the task of giving us our second New York City guide than Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder and CMO of Gilt Groupe. Six years ago there were sample sales…today, there’s Gilt Groupe.
Wilson has always been innately entrepreneurial; she started out working around the globe for household names like Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, and finally created her own company (with partner Alexis Maybank) based on the notion of bringing the sought after sample sale online. With sales that last 36 hours, and carts that expire after 10 minutes, Wilson has created a shared 12:00 PM frenzy every day, and the site has expanded beyond fashion into food, travel, and home. Beyond the site, her passion and sweetness are simply infectious.
Wilson and Maybank’s new book – By Invitation Only: How We Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop – comes out tomorrow, and is meant to inspire others to pursue the ideas they are passionate about. Both lifestyle gurus and experts on e-commerce, the two have written a book that is relevant to entrepreneurs, tastemakers, and anyone interested in fashion, luxury and lifestyle. Seeing as Wilson is one of our favorite tastemakers, we know we’ll be picking up a copy. We’re sure it will be as delicious as her New York guide…
