John DeLucie

Chef and proprietor John DeLucie has opened two restaurants in the past two years; the Upper East Side’s new hot spot Crown and the West Village’s place to be seen, The Lion. It was hard to resist talking with this visionary, also the founding chef of The Waverley Inn and author of the memoir The HungerEach restaurant DeLucie touches seems to become a New York mainstay within mere months, a feat not easily accomplished. Constantly in the limelight, DeLucie is known to mix modern cooking techniques with European flavors. The chef serves continental cuisine at Crown, and American cuisine with Italian influences at The Lion – and you’ll be hard pressed to find a night without the 5:30/10:30 response to a request for reservations at either.
